The difference between the snow that falls and the actual snow depth can be several inches. The latest run of one of our hi-res models shows this well with the difference between the two outputs being 2-4 inches apart. In other models this difference is even larger. This happens due to compaction and melting, especially with temperatures in the lower 30s.
